This handmade glass bead bracelet is inspired by manatees, who are most closely related to elephants.

This stretch bracelet measures 17.5 cm / 7 inches in length. This adjustable bracelet fits any size of wrist between 13 cm (5.2 inches) and 24 cm (9.5 inches.) Please add a note to your order if you would like me to make a custom size for you!

Manatees may seem like slow-moving sea cows, but they are graceful swimmers who are critical to our ocean’s ecosystems remaining in balance. They are known for their leathery skin and gentle movements. They are herbivores, and spend most of their life grazing. They tend to move at a slow speed of 5 mph and can hold their breath for 20 minutes. Manatees can weigh upwards of 1,100 pounds when fully grown, reaching up to 10 feet in length. They can live up to 40 years, but can only give birth every 2 years; babies are carried for 12 months before they are born. There are three species of manatees: the West Indian manatee, the African manatee, and the Amazonian manatee. Manatees are also very intelligent and can be trained to do tricks! They can swim vertically, upside down, barrel roll, and even do somersaults (typically reserved for playtime)! They are illegal to hunt, as humans are their only known predator. They are endangered from boat collisions and habitat loss.
